For the poets of ancient Israel, the olive tree symbolized God’s blessing. Its fruit showed God’s kindness. Its shade expressed God’s care. Its flourishing indicated God’s involvement to nourish, tend, and prosper. As centuries passed and cultures changed, the olive tree remained a potent image. Amidst the pressures and problems of the 1st century Roman Empire, the Apostle Paul viewed the multi-ethnic people of God as an olive tree nurtured by the wise hands of the Master Gardener.
At Christ Academy, like Paul, we want to view all of life through the lens of God’s revelation. We seek to soak in Scripture so that our outlook is thoroughly biblical. We pursue Jesus, the Word made flesh, so that our lives express God’s truth, body and soul. Our mission is to provide classical Christian education that forms students to display the surpassing goodness of Jesus Christ through thoughtful, articulate, beautiful, and virtuous lives.
And so we are hopeful…that the children God brings to us—the “olive shoots” (Psa 128)—will bear fruit; that families and faculty will experience the wonder of God’s provision—“I am like a green olive tree” (Psa 52); that the beauty of God’s love in Christ will spread “like the olive” (Hos 14). The pressures and problems of 21st century America may not abate, but by God’s grace we will flourish.
Won’t you join us in this hope? This is our second year, and we have seen God’s abundance: a doubled student body, new teachers and staff, joyful growth in God’s ways. But our needs have also grown, and we need your help. We aim to raise $50,000.
